A late braking move on Liam Lawson for fourth in the closing laps increases Alpine junior Oscar Piastri’s advantage at the top of the drivers’ standings to 93, 12 more than his PREMA team mate Robert Shwartzman.

Meanwhile, Alpine test driver Guanyu Zhou lost further ground in the title fight as well. The UNI-Virtuosi racer had started from the back of the grid following his Race 1 retirement and despite making up an impressive 11 places to 11th, was unable to trouble the points’ positions.
Piastri will look to further cement his position at the top of the standings when he starts from pole in the Feature Race on Sunday, while Zhou will be looking to claw back some points from second place. Action gets underway 1050 local time, the grid set by Friday’s Qualifying session.
