Nikola Tsolov claimed his second victory of the 2026 FIA Formula 2 season by beating rivals Laurens van Hoepen and Alex Dunne in a drag race to the line at the Miami Sprint Race.

Starting from pole, the Campos Racing driver held the lead for much of the race but was constantly under threat from Van Hoepen.

On the final lap, Van Hoepen overtook Tsolov for the lead at Turn 11, but with his DRS open, the Red Bull Junior came back at him heading into Turn 17.

Their fighting allowed Alpine Academy member Dunne to close in as he looked to make a double overtake on the top two at the penultimate corner.

However, Tsolov’s better exit allowed him to get ahead of his rivals as he took the chequered flag to become Formula 2’s first ever winner in Miami.

Van Hoepen held off Dunne to seal his second consecutive podium with TRIDENT – following his third place in the Melbourne Feature Race.

Dunne finished third for Rodin Motorsport ahead of Van Amersfoort Racing’s Nico Varrone, Invicta Racing’s Joshua Duerksen and his team mate Martinius Stenshorne in sixth.

Gabriele Minì was the second Alpine backed driver on the leaderboard as he finished seventh for MP Motorsport ahead of DAMS Lucas Oil driver Dino Beganovic.

The third Alpine Academy member in the field Kush Maini is set to start from pole in Sunday’s Miami Feature Race, with lights out scheduled for 12:30 local time.
