F2: Verschoor victorious around Red Bull Ring as Dunne loses P2 to disqualification
Richard Verschoor took over the lead of the Formula 2 Drivers' Championship with his third victory of the 2025 campaign.

Richard Verschoor took over the lead of the Formula 2 Drivers' Championship with his third victory of the 2025 campaign.
The MP Motorsport driver lined up third on the grid but was attacking pole-sitter Leonardo Fornaroli right away. He eventually had to settle for second, but along with Victor Martins, undercut the Italian during the pitstop phase.
From there, Verschoor hunted down Martins in the ART Grand Prix #14 car and took the lead. He then measured out the performance of his tyres to the end to take win number three ahead of title rival Alexander Dunne.
The Rodin Motorsport driver finished second on the road after an impressive comeback effort from seventh on the grid, but following an inspection of his car post-race, lost his podium and was disqualified for a technical infringement.
It leaves Verschoor in the lead of the Championship by 24 points heading to Silverstone.
Fornaroli had to settle for an inherited second after starting from pole, losing multiple places in the pitstops after running longer than his rivals in the first stint.
He eventually won out in a battle with Martins and Josep María Martí in the latter stages to secure his fourth podium of the campaign.
Jak Crawford finished fourth for DAMS Lucas Oil ahead of a charging Sebastián Montoya, who made a late pitstop for PREMA Racing on the alternative strategy to come through to fifth.
