FORMULA 3: Lundgaard takes first pole of season in Hungary

Christian Lundgaard followed up first place in Free Practice with another sterling performance, claiming his first pole position of the Formula 3 season in an entertaining Qualifying session.
The Renault F1 junior produced a storming tour of the Hungaroring on a still damp track to claim the spot ahead of Hitech Grand Prix’s Juri Vips and ART team mate Max Fewtrell.
Despite showing strong early pace, it was a woeful afternoon for Championship leaders PREMA, as only Robert Shwartzman made the top 10, with fourth – poor by his season’s standards. His Championship contending team mates fared worse, with Marcus Armstrong 13th and Jehan Daruvala as low as 17th.
Pedro Piquet and Vips had taken the lead in the second half of qualifying, but Lundgaard pulled it off when it mattered, streaking around in an unmatchable time of 1m 31.761s. The Dane will now look for his first win of the campaign when action kicks off later this afternoon.
