Charles Leclerc will start from pole position for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, having set the pace in the first-ever qualifying session at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit.
After clinching provisional pole in the first runs of Q3, the Monegasque stayed at the top by improving with a lap of 1m 32.726s. This put him ahead of Ferrari team mate Carlos Sainz in second, though the Spaniard will take a 10-place grid drop for the race.

Max Verstappen aborted his final flying lap and ended the session in third, with George Russell the leading Mercedes in fourth.
There was a good showing for some of the midfield runners in Q3. Pierre Gasly claimed P5 ahead of the Williams duo of Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant in an impressive sixth and seventh respectively.
Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen and Fernando Alonso rounded out the top 10. Meanwhile there were some surprises earlier in the session, with Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez eliminated in Q2, while there was a shock exit for both McLaren cars in Q1.
