HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the action from the Sprint in Miami as Norris leads 1-2 finish for McLaren
McLaren's extensive upgrades paid off in the Miami Sprint as Lando Norris won from team mate Oscar Piastri, with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc taking the final podium spot.
Lando Norris ended Mercedes’ winning streak as he took a flawless victory in the Sprint at the Miami Grand Prix, bringing home a confident 1-2 finish for McLaren alongside Oscar Piastri.
The Briton calmly led the pack from pole position as his team mate charged past the lead Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli, who lost another position to Charles Leclerc on the opening lap – the Monegasque went on to maintain P3 until the chequered flag.
Although George Russell temporarily found a way up to P4, Antonelli fought back past before he was dealt a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits after the Sprint ended, dropping him down to P6 in the final classification.
The penalty helped Max Verstappen to secure a hard-fought fifth place following a tense battle with Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton that saw the pair veer off the track. With the Briton settling for P7, Pierre Gasly took the final point on offer for Alpine.
