Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris treated their home crowd to a table-topping time apiece on the opening day of practice for the British Grand Prix but who is in the best shape to convert that performance into victory come Sunday afternoon?
McLaren have their noses in front...just
Norris was in fine spirits when he spoke to the media after topping the timesheets by 0.222s, courtesy of what he described as a "very strong lap" on the soft tyre during the qualifying simulations.
The Briton, who won last time out in Austria, acknowledged that the "Ferraris have been very, very quick today - and they shall be tomorrow" while his team mate Oscar Piastri admitted Ferrari's pace "was a bit of a surprise...both in the Qualifying runs and the longer runs".
