With two Virtual Safety Car periods and one appearance from the Safety Car itself for good measure, strategy was hard to call – and as such, the airwaves were full of chatter…
Sergio Perez was left with a weekend to forget after a crash in qualifying was followed by a mechanical retirement in the race, while Mick Schumacher’s own qualifying joy also turned to despair when he too had to park up down at Turn 8.
Yuki Tsunoda had to apologise to the team after his race ended in the barriers, while Fernando Alonso’s afternoon was disrupted by an increasingly frustrating engine issue. But there was joy for Zhou Guanyu as he managed a best ever result, and Mercedes were also left happy with their lot after bringing home a podium.
