Pirelli have revealed the three tyre compounds that will be made available for September’s 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix, with the purple-marked ultrasoft making its fourth appearance of the season.
Along with the new ultrasoft, which debuted in Monaco last weekend and will appear again at the next round in Canada, the selection also consists of the yellow-marked softs and the red-marked supersofts.
Under the new-for-2016 rules, teams must have a set of softs and a set of supersofts available for the Singapore street race, and must use at least one of them.
Each driver will also have to save one set of ultrasofts for the Q3 qualifying session. This set will be given back to Pirelli after Q3 for those who qualify in the top 10, but the remaining drivers will keep it for the race.
The teams are free to choose the 10 remaining sets permitted from the three available compounds, making up 13 sets in total for the weekend.
The 2016 tyre choices so far:
Australia - supersoft, soft, medium
Bahrain - supersoft, soft, medium
