Under bright blue skies, the 55th Belgian Grand Prix to be held at Spa-Francorchamps got under way – but a number of drivers wouldn’t have been feeling too sunny after their starts on Sunday afternoon.
As pole-sitter Carlos Sainz led away, Sergio Perez made a failed bid to cover the Spaniard off from P2, but suffered wheelspin that left him fighting with Fernando Alonso into Turn 1.

Alonso got ahead but would come together a few corners later with Lewis Hamilton – the resultant contact putting Hamilton out of the race, with Valtteri Bottas joining him a lap later after contact with Nicholas Latifi.
