WATCH: From Raikkonen and Alonso's battles to Mansell's heartbreak – 14 times races were won on the final lap
Formula 1 has had its fair share of dramatic moments over the years, but probably none are more memorable than a driver sealing victory on the final lap of the race. So, we have dug through the archives and picked 14 unforgettable times victory was snatched from the jaws of defeat.
This list features a number of household Formula 1 names, with Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen making an appearance twice, following their remarkable battles in 2005 at the Japanese and European Grands Prix.
Along with that, we see a number of inter-team controversies down at Ferrari, between Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello, as well as at Mercedes, where Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg competed for the race win in Austria back in 2016.
Montreal has also been the setting for a number of dramatic final laps, such as Jenson Button’s last gasp victory over Sebastian Vettel in 2011, as well as Nigel Mansell breaking down on the side of the track when on his way to victory.
We also get to see some first-time wins involving Ricardo Patrese, Giancarlo Fisichella, and Mika Hakkinen, as well as a dramatic first world championship for Max Verstappen.
To watch all of this and much more, click on the video player above as we look back on 14 times a Formula 1 race was won on the final lap.
