A Mercedes run has been broken: Max Verstappen pulled out a stunning lap to take his first pole position at Texas's Circuit of The Americas and end a streak of Mercedes poles at this track running back to 2014.
It was a thrilling qualifying session on Saturday in front of a sell-out crowd Stateside, as more than 100,000 fans watched Lewis Hamilton, Sergio Perez, and Verstappen duel for supremacy in the top ten shootout.

Q1 saw Charles Leclerc go quickest, Red Bull edging out the Mercedes; Q2 had Max Verstappen top the charts by 0.333s over Hamilton; and Q3 went right to the wire with Verstappen finally taking pole over Hamilton and Perez by just over two-tenths.
