Gabriel Bortoleto became F3 champion at the first time of asking over the weekend as he rounded off a trophy-filled maiden campaign with the ultimate prize during the season finale at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
Heading into qualifying with two wins, three further podiums and a hatful of points finished behind him, the 18-year-old Brazilian – part of Fernando Alonso’s management company – emerged from the session with the margin he needed.
F3: Bortoleto crowned champion at Monza as team mate Goethe snatches maiden pole
As fellow contenders Paul Aron and Josep Maria Marti failed to claim the two points awarded for pole, Bortoleto was confirmed as champion, following on from Ferrari reserve Robert Shwartzman and McLaren racer Oscar Piastri as a rookie F3 title-winner.
